Sabala Mela begins in Kalimpong

October 6, 2018: Sabala Mela 2018 has been started at Mela Ground, Kalimpong today, which will continue till October 12. The Mela was inaugurated by Shri Gautam Deb, Hon’ble MIC, Tourism department. The Sabala Mela is organized by government of West Bengal, Office of district magistrate, Kalimpong. Distinguished politicians, government authorities from across the hills were present during the inaugural session. The main objective to hold the Sabala Mela 2018 is to promote the tourism in the hills and Kalimpong is set to be the tourist’s hub of the hills by providing various infrastructures and facilities to the visiting tourists by the government of West Bengal. And also to promote local entrepreneurship and its products, particularly priority is given to the women.

During the inaugural session of Sabala Mela 2018, Khambu Rai Board chairman Shri Dipraj Rai was also present. Sabala Mela 2018 has also the stalls to promote the local products and culture of the hills, accordingly, Khambu Rai Board has acquired stall no. 50 at Mela ground, Kalimpong, where traditional Khambu Rai products are being displayed.

Khambu Rai Board will also take part in the cultural show during the seven days Sabala Mela 2018 at Mela ground, Kalimpong. The two Khambu Rai groups will take part in the cultural show, on behalf of Khambu Rai Development Board. Two Khambu Rai groups are (i) Anupama Rai and Sili dance group and (ii) Khambu Rai Cultural group, they will performed Khambu Rai cultural dance and music for one hour at Sabala Mela 2018 on October 10 at 11am in Kalimpong.
