August 26, 2018: A programme was organised by the Mirik Kirati Khambu Rai Sanskritik Sanstan in Mirik to felicitate the newly nominated chairman of West Bengal Khambu Rai Sanskritik Sansthan Shri Dipraj Rai. Huge numbers of Khambu Rai people from Mirik were participated in the programme, the chief guest of the programme was Shri L. B Rai, Mirik Municipality chairman.  During the occasion, Chairman Dipraj Rai was felicitated in traditional Khambu Rai manner and also presented a memento and customary shawls.

“Mamata Government has given me huge responsibilities, I need to fulfil the aspiration of Khambu Rai people and I am committed to serve my community”, said newly appointed chairman Shri Dipraj Rai. He also thanked chief minister Mamata Banerjee and Mirik municipality chairman Shri LB Rai during the occasion.

Shri LB Rai, Mirik municipality chairman, congratulated Shri Dipraj Rai and said it is very important to develop Khambu Rai community through the Development Board. He also wished Shri Dipraj Rai for his successful tenure and expects exemplary works towards Khambu Rai community of the hills.

Traditional Khambu Rai Sili dances were performed during the occasion. Ward commissioners Banita Rai, Punam Biswa, Sanjiv Tamang, TMC Mirik constituency president Shri Anil Chettri, RTI activist and Nepali litterateur Shri Janam Rai, music artist Navin Rai were present during the felicitation programme.
