Formation of West Bengal Khambu Rai Development Board:

Following the formation of Mayel Lyang Lepcha Development Board on February 12, 2013, representatives of Kirati Khambu Rai Sanskritik Sansthan (KKRSS), Sri Tara Kumar Rai, president and Arun Prakash Rai, secretary, went to Kolkata on March 31, 2014 and thanked the Hon’ble Chief Minister Miss Mamata Banerjee, requested her good self to grant Similar Development Board for the upliftment of the poor and deprived Khambu Rais of the hills.   They also reiterated that the Kirati Khambu Rai Sanskritik Sansthan is the oldest registered body representing the largest Khambu populace group in the hills.

Thereafter, the KKRSS pursued the matter relentlessly and finally KKRSS was invited to form the West Bengal Khambu Rai Development Board.

Meanwhile, a meeting was held and names of the KKRSS Members to be inducted in the Board were finalized. Bylaws and Memorandum of Association was drawn up and finally the West Bengal Khambu Rai Development Board (WBKRDB) was formed as notified in the Kolkata Gazette Notification as Resolution No. SBCW1387/16/6E -95/15 dated February 2, 2016.

Guideline adopting beneficiary list:

On February 12, 2016 another round of meeting of KKRSS was held at Salbari, Siliguri and following Resolutions were adopted:
1.    The working of the WBKRDB should be transparent and the members of the Board should be answerable.
2.    The Monitoring of the works should be done by the local Sakha and Prasakha of KKRSS.
3.    The facilities provided by the Board should be primarily given to BPL families selected by Sakha.
4.    Fund provided by the Government should be appropriately utilized in proper way.

Accordingly, a list of 500 Beneficiaries was submitted in a KKRSS meeting held on February 27, 2016. Following are the particulars of the Meeting:
1.    The working of the WBKRDB was explained in detail by the Chairman to the KKRSS members.
2.    The details of the Beneficiaries for availing the housing scheme under Yalamber Khim were also enumerated.
3.    The list of left out Beneficiaries should be submitted by the members of the Sakha at the earliest.
4.    It was also resolved that the President/Secretary of the Sakhas should be in the monitoring Committee for the selection and execution of the work.

on March 21, 2016, a Monitoring Committee was formed in a KKRSS meeting to monitor and implement the works and activities of WBKRDB.
